ll was begun when theater of Sicilian's Puppet born in Sicily. Francesco Vasta, a spectator of history of Paladins of France made by Giusto lo Dico, has this idea at the beginning of '900. He has worked at the harbor and he has loved show of sicilian's puppets but he couldn't pay every evening ticket to see the show.
In 1908 he began to paint placards merge two sheets of paper for packing with the glue and then with the temper he has painted scenes first outlined with a pencil.
The scenes had a logical thread because every scene represented the main's scene of every chapter of the history, since 1908 for success of public he has left his job for devoting himself to the painting of the Placards.
Now, many work of Vasta are preserved, the owner of many of these placards is Region Sicily. Theater of Macrì has the other.
Vasta is the leader of the school of Sicilian Placard painting, his works seem little naif, they are unmistakable in fact Prof. Aurelio Rigoli of Palermo's University has documented them in one book "Heroes of Sicily" and you can see these placards on our web site.
